Special commentary by webmaster & family historian, Kelly.

Those of you who have spent their share of time dredging through reminisces of long forgotten, uncared for cemeteries should take the time to visit those by the Forest Lawn Group.  Their cemeteries are a land for the living by incorporating ponds & streams with hills & valleys into a Park like setting amongst the tombstones and monuments.  They even have tours such as "Sunday in the Cemetery."  Forest Law Cemetery in Buffalo, New York is rich with history, period architecture, atmosphere, and the ever so rare- kind & knowledgeable staff.  This cemetery is quite large, acreage, just north of downtown.  It happens to be the place where my love for cemeteries began when I was a small child.  This is where I always wanted to be laid to rest, where my aunts, uncles, & god parents have or will eternal rest along with political giants (like Millard Fillmore), Native Americans (such as Red Jacket), and the mover and shakers of Erie County, NY.  At the end of one summer my grandmother remarked that of all the places she had taken me that summer (including amusement parks)- I had enjoyed this the most.  I will forever remember grandma & Aunt Marty dragging me away to the next monument, laughing all the while.  It was my turn this summer to share the beauty of Forrest Lawn.  My genealogy cohort, Jim, had never been to Forest Lawn that he could remember.  This amazed me because he too grew up in Buffalo, a generation before me.  I could have spent my whole vacation in this cemetery & soon after we had arrived it was apparent that Jim felt the same.  We were captivated by the history.  He even used his own money  (too much) for literature for me, and you, on the cemetery & a few extra dollars for duck food to entertain my daughter (thanks Jim).  These images only represent a fraction of the cemetery & we do have additional images which are available upon request.  Higher quality images are also available, as we always reduce resolution web space purposes.
