Chautauqua County Images
Ripley Township, also known as Quincy,
was named after General Eleazar Wheelock Ripley (War of 1812), who was
born 15 Apr 1782 in Hanover, Grafton Co., NH.
Well-known Chautauqua County residents
include Lucian Ball, actress & comedian, & Benjamin
Franklin Goodrich, founder of B.F. Goodrich Co.
In 1860: young Grace Bedell, Westfield resident, suggests
to pres. candidate Abe Lincoln that he
should wear whiskers.
The town of Westfield was formerly known as Crossroads.

*Sun 9/12/2004 5:49 PM = I have include 2 copies of the photo of "The
Farmers Club", one with numbers corresponding to the following labels. The
photo was labeled on the back with these names and I matched them up to a news
article referencing this photo. I'm not 100% sure if they are correct.
(William & Elizabeth Marcy are my great, great grandparents). I don't believe
we are related to any of the others in the photo, and perhaps someone out
there would appreciate the photo. Ginny & Bob
